Year 12 rewards visit on Monday 13/7/15 – click on the letter
During the Whitsun half term break, around 70 children from Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bryn Tawe attended the Urdd Eisteddfod in Caerphilly. They were to compete in 22 competitions representing West Glamorgan in the national round of the festival. These competitions included the year 7 – 9 choir, the reciting group, the folk dancing group and the senior girls’ choir, to name but a few. They were very successful with 6 of the competitions reaching the stage, including Steffan Leonard who was competing in the recitation solo. Congratulations to all involved from Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bryn Tawe.

We are pleased to present the option columns for September 2015.

If you need any further advice, please contact Mr Ben Davies or Mr Carwyn Jenkins at the school. We look forward to seeing you on the GCSE results day on Thursday 20th of August, and back at Bryn Tawe studying in the Sixth Form.
After the recent Performing Shakespeare ESU National Finals Day, hosted by the ESU at Dartmouth House in London, warmest congratulations are in order for two of our pupils. Steffan and Manon were crowned the deserving winners of the best duologue category, beating competition from schools across England and Wales! Their energetic performance (from Shakespeare’s ‘Tempest’) had their audience laughing along with them and had their teacher, (and biggest fan) Mrs Naomi Tootill-Evans feeling immensely proud of their achievements. What’s more, each of the three prizes on offer was claimed by pupils in schools from South Wales.

As part of our World Book Day celebrations at Bryn Tawe, a group of year 8 boys had the opportunity to develop their reading skills in the company of Swansea City ambassador and club legend, Lee Trundle, and the club’s chaplain and match day MC, the entertainer, Kevin Johns. Pupils combined their reading skills by looking at texts revealing the history of our local football club and had the opportunity to quiz Lee and Kevin on their favourite match-day memories. It was interesting to hear Lee Trundle explain how reading was so important in the day-to-day life of a professional footballer when analysing and preparing to face opposing teams, while Kevin Johns revealed his passion for Shakespeare. Our year 8 pupils are pictured with Kevin Johns, Lee Trundle, Mr Simon Davies and Mr Chris Shaw (dressed as Rupert the Bear).
